Local Brass Collection
Les cinq musiciens du Local Brass Quintet et Gabriel Philippot se rencontrent pour la première fois alors qu'ils sont encore étudiants au Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP). C'est pour le prix de musique du quintette que les deux premières collaborations ont lieu, d'un coté les Huit Valses Poétiques de Granados, dont l'interprétation et le travail d'arrangement sera salué par le jury, et de l'autre la Danzon n°2 de Marquez, pièce maitresse de leur premier album "Stay Tuned" qu'ils enregistreront quelques mois après.
Très vite, une complicité naît, puis une véritable confiance humaine et artistique s'installe.
En écoutant l'interprétation de La Fille aux cheveux de Lin de Debussy (huitième prélude du premier livre) arrangée pour quintette de cuivres, ils décident de se concentrer sur les deux géants de la musique française que sont Ravel et Debussy.
L'arrangement met en valeur les harmonies raffinées qui rayonnent dans la densité chorale des cuivres, et les interprètes peuvent trouver des sonorités fines et des phrasés élégants.
En plus de ce travail de transcription, le quintette commande une composition "à la manière de" à Gabriel Philippot, et tout ce corpus formera leur deuxième album "Ravel Debussy Philippot".
Grace à son auto-édition, Gabriel Philippot et le Local Brass Quintet créent une collection spéciale pour proposer leur travail à tous les musiciens curieux et intéressés par leur démarche et leur recherche.
Vous pourrez donc retrouver ici la quasi totalité des pièces nées de cette rencontre entre un quintette de cuivres curieux et avide de création et de nouveauté, et un compositeur/arrangeur fervent défenseur d'une école de cuivres élégante et moderne.
The five musicians of the Local Brass Quintet and Gabriel Philippot met for the first time while studying at the Paris conservatory. Their first two collaborations took place for the music prize of the quintet : on the one hand the Eight Poetic Valses of Granados, whose interpretation and work of arrangement will be praised by the jury, and on the other the Danzon n°2 of Marquez, masterpiece of their first album "Stay Tuned" which they will record a few months later.
Very quickly, a complicity is born, and then a real human and artistic trust is established.
Listening to Debussy’s La Fille aux cheveux (eighth prelude to the first book), arranged for a brass quintet, they decide to focus on the two giants of French music, Ravel and Debussy.
The arrangement highlights the refined harmonies that radiate in the choral density of the brass, and performers can find fine sonorities and elegant phrasing.
In addition to this work of transcription, the quintet commissions a composition "in the manner of" from Gabriel Philippot, and all this corpus will form their second album "Ravel Debussy Philippot".
Through his self-publishing, Gabriel Philippot and the Local Brass Quintet have created a special collection to offer their work to all musicians curious and interested in their approach and research.
You can thus find here almost all the pieces born from this meeting between a quintet of brass curious and eager for creation and novelty, and a composer/arranger fervent defender of an elegant and modern school of brass
